What a Teal Pumpkin Stands For

Halloween is time for a good scare and a bit of spookiness, but for parents of children with food allergies, the holiday can be frightening for serious reasons

The Teal Pumpkin Project is trying to make sure all children get to participate in the joy and tradition of Trick or Treating and come home on Halloween night with something they can enjoy. Including all children can be as simple as offering non-food treats such as glow-sticks, small toys or other alternatives to candy.

How to Participate

  1. Provide non-food treats for trick-or-treaters.
  2. Place a teal pumpkin in front of your home to indicate to passersby that you have non-food treats available.
  3. Display a free printable sign to explain the meaning of your teal pumpkin.

Remember, Halloween is a fun, community holiday and the Teal Pumpkin Project is building on this spirit of community by making Halloween a safe and happy experience for everyone.
