How Will You Commemorate Alcohol Awareness Month?

How Will You Commemorate Alcohol Awareness Month?

April Marks The Time To Take A Look At Drinking

Before you reach for that third drink on Friday night, stop and think. April is Alcohol Awareness Month, making it a perfect time to evaluate our drinking habits.

Consuming too much alcohol increases your risk of disease and cancer and makes you more likely to get injured, become violent, or drown. Fortunately, together we can make the change to encourage ourselves and others to moderate our drinking.

Moderate drinking means one drink a day for women and two drinks a day for men. A 5 ounce glass of wine, 1.5 ounce shot of liquor, or 12 ounce bottle of beer all count as one drink. If you are having trouble moderating your drinking, consider taking a day or week off from consuming alcohol. This will give your body the chance to heal itself and you will likely find you do not want that drink so badly after a reprieve from regular alcohol consumption.

Another benefit of moderate drinking is the lessened chance of a DUI conviction, which can significantly increase your auto insurance premiums.
