“Hey, OSHA, what’s the current standard for slip-and-fall prevention?”
“Hey, OSHA, is my business required to provide safety training to employees?”
OK, so maybe no one has developed an equivalent to Amazon’s “Alexa” for government services yet, but if you have a question for the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), they’ve got an answer: just ask!
For example, questions can be directed to staff at any of OSHA’s local offices (a list of locations is available at www.osha.gov/html/RAmap.html) or by emailing OSHA directly (email contact information is available at www.osha.gov/ecor_form.html).
Diligent business owners may go a step further and invite OSHA to conduct an on-site consultation. According to OSHA, such a consultation is completely separate from a typical OSHA inspection, and any hazards identified are not subject to citation or penalty. More about this service is available at www.osha.gov/dcsp/smallbusiness/consult.html.
