As we illuminate our homes in holiday cheer, it becomes increasingly more important that we partake in basic safety precautions to ensure the holiday season remains memorable for the right reasons. Holiday fire safety at home is extremely important to ensure a pleasant season. Gathered are some vital safety tips to keep close in thought:

  • If you plan to use your fireplace this winter, it is important that you have the chimney swept and inspected by a professional.
  • When displaying your holiday cheer on your home, make sure to partake in safe holiday lighting. This means connecting no more than three strands of lights and not connecting extension cords to each other.
  • As beautiful and festive as holiday scented candles might be, they can be extremely hazardous if you leave them unattended.
  • Make sure to put your holiday lights on a timer to ensure that your home is never illuminated while unsupervised. Whenever you go to sleep or leave the house, make sure to unplug the holiday lights on your tree and on the exterior of your home.
